A wonderful day for Maesgwyn Kennels at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Open & Championship shows with super entries at both shows.
Open show (10 entries, 1 absent) - Morgan, Ch Maesgwyn Red Baron of Marma awarded BOB and then Runner up Best in Show and Best Australian Bred in Show under judge, Linda Walsh. His dad Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma TD was awarded RUBOB from the Veterans Class and Veteran in Show. Billie, Maesgwyn Liberty Belle Ruby was Reserve Bitch.
Championship show (16 entries 2 absent) - Judge, Shellie Marshall. Flynn, Gr Champion Maesgwyn King Hearts (AI) TD, BOB and then Best in Show and Aust Bred in Show. Duke once again did us proud with RUBOB and Veteran in Show.
A truly wonderful day and our thanks to Jan Irving for handling both Duke and Flynn and Caitlin Ryan for also handling Flynn.
Super congratulations to Terry Van Ewyk, Angela Henderson .
And a special thank you to both judges for your lovely compliments on our Duke who is 11.5 years old and now officially retiring.

Polly, Ch Maesgwyn Light OLaugharne was BOB at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Show and her son, Flynn, Ch Maesgwyn King of Hearts (AI) TD was RUBOB. The judge was Mr P Fortemps (Belgium).
Later in the day, Flynn was awarded BOB at the Victorian Gundog Club show under Mr S Helgesen (Norway) and his litter sister Duchess, Ch Maesgwyn Queen of Hearts (AI) was RUBOB. Their mother Polly was Res BCC. This is the second year running that Flynn has won BOB at the Victorian Gundog Club show. Both shows attract a strong entries.
Flynn also won QC Class under judge Mrs Robyn Price.
Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby returned to the show ring - for the first time since 2008 in the Neuter Class.
September 2013
For the second year running, Flynn Ch Maesgwyn King of Hearts (AI) TD was awarded Best of Breed at the Royal Melbourne Show. His mother, Polly, Ch Maesgwyn Queen of Hearts was Runner Up Best of Breed.
Flynn then went on win the Best Rarer Gundog Spaniel award.
Our sincere thanks again to Flynn's owner, Terry Van Ewyk and his handler, Pauline Scott for ther dedication to this lovely dog. And a huge thank you to Cheryl Harding for handling Polly.
August 2013
24 August 2013 - Dogs Victoria State Tracking Trial. Dear D'arcy started the day passing test 3 to gain his TD title and is now Ch Plattwood DarcyTD. This was followed by Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby passing test 2 and Brianna passing test 5. We were then fortunate enough to Track On and Brianna passed test 6 to gain her TDX and is now Ch Laugharne Exotic Gem OMaesgwyn (Ai) TDX. It was an absolutely brilliant day and we were somewhat speachless at the end. We did get a little teary at the presentations when D'arcy, who is 14 and a half, deaf and blind one eye was given his Tracking Dog sash. Thank you again to Alyson for her support and unwavering faith. D'arcy has now gracefully retired from tracking, however we plan to introduce the rest of the Maesgwyn Welshies to tracking in 2014.
Results from the Tracking Club of Victoria on 17 August 2013. Buffy Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby passed test 1, Brianna, Ch Laugharne Exotic Gem OMaesgwyn (AI) TD.passed test 4 but sadly D'arcy Ch Plattwood Darcy was put completely off by the scent blowing directly from our car. A good result nonetheless.
July 2013
Brianna passed tests 2 and 3 at the Gippsland Obedience Club Tracking Trial on Sunday, 23 July and is now Ch Laugharne Exotic Gem OMaesgwyn (Ai) TD. Brianna was handled by Dave. Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby also had a go at test 1, but was rather distracted by sheep, so we will try again soon. Our great thanks to our tracking mentor, Alyson.

Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma won Best in Show and Veteran in Show at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Open Show on 10 June, Flynn, Ch Maesgwyn King of Hearts (AI) was Australian Bred in Show and Duchess, Ch Maesgwyn Queen of Hearts (AI) was Junior in Show. The judge was Louise Brodie. Duke was also Best of Breed and Veteran in Show at the Champ show held on the same day. The judge was Wayne Douglas.

27 May 2013, D'arcy, Ch Plattwood Darcy passed Tracking Tests 1 and 2 on the same day at the grand age of 14. Terry with Flynn, Ch Maesgwyn King of Hearts (AI) also passed Tracking Test 1 and 2.
Duchess, Maesgwyn Queen of Hearts (AI) gained her Championship Title at 13 months. Along the way she has won three Puppy in Groups. Our thanks to everyone for their help and support.
Flynn, Maesgwyn King of Hearts (AI) gains his Championship Title at 11 months. We don't believe he is the first Welsh to get his title before 12 months, but we are very proud of him all the same. Our sincere thanks to Flynn's mum, Terry and his handler, Pauline for their committment and support.

Saturday, 3 November, Duke, Maesgwyn Duke of Marma gained his Championship title with two Best of Breed wins. The first was at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Show under Mr G Kostopoulos (Greece) from 17 entries. Duke was also Aust Bred in Show.
Saffi, Ch Laugharne Nordic Light, Duke's grandmother was Bitch Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed.
At the Victorian Gundog Club under Mrs A McCarry Carroll (Ireland) Duke was again Best of Breed from 17 entries.
His mother Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby was Bitch Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed.
Monday, 5 November at Victorian Women's Dog Club under Mrs J McGinnis (USA) Saffi was again Bitch Challenge.

November Melbourne Cup Weekend - Saffi, handled by Kari Harding, won bitch challenge at 4 consecutive shows under international judges at the Melbourne Cup Weekend shows. Beth Marschall, Saffi's breeder from Laugharne Kennels came to stay and brough along three friends and two of her dogs, cH Laugharne Mitchell et (AI) and Laugharne Thunderstorm. It was a very hectic weekend with four shows over three days but it was a lot of fun. Following are the results:
